Kitti
The Nepali nine-card game. Arrange your nine cards into three hands, then show them round by round. Win two rounds to take the deal; if nobody does, it is a Kitti and the point carries over. Trials beat pure runs, runs, colours and pairs.
Kitti (also written Kitty) is a popular card game from Nepal for two to five players. Each player is dealt nine cards and arranges them into three hands of three cards. The hands are then shown one round at a time, and the best hand wins each round.
Win two of the three rounds to win the deal. If nobody wins two rounds, it is a "Kitti": nobody scores and the point carries over to the next deal, so the next winner takes more.
How to play Kitti
- You are dealt nine cards. Tap a card to place it into Hand 1, Hand 2 or Hand 3, or press Auto arrange.
- Put your strongest hand first: hands are compared in order, Hand 1 against Hand 1, then 2, then 3.
- When everyone has arranged their cards, press Show. Each round, the best hand wins.
- Hand ranking from best to worst: Trial (three of a kind), Pure run (straight flush), Run (straight), Colour (flush), Pair, High card.
- In runs, A-K-Q is the highest and A-2-3 the second highest. Trials of aces are the best possible hand.
- After the chosen number of decided deals (3, 5 or 7), the player with the most points wins.
Tips
- Balance your hands. Three decent hands often beat one great hand and two weak ones.
- A pair is worth less than a colour, so do not break a flush just to make a pair.
- Count the cards: with more players, strong hands are more likely around the table.
