Prop Hideout
Hide in plain sight. Hiders turn into everyday objects (a lamp, a crate, a teddy, a pot plant) and blend in around a house that is built differently every round. Seekers get a short look away, then hunt for anything that seems out of place. Tag a real object by mistake and you lose energy. Found hiders join the hunt. Play against bots or online.
Prop Hideout is hide and seek where the hiders turn into everyday objects. Become a lamp in the living room, a tyre in the garage or a cooking pot in the kitchen, find a spot that looks natural and keep very still.
The seekers close their eyes while everyone hides, then search the house for anything that looks out of place. Tagging a real object by mistake costs energy, so they cannot just tag everything. Every round builds a new house with different rooms, furniture and objects. Play against computer players or online with up to ten people.
How to play Prop Hideout
- Each round some players hide and the rest seek. Roles change every round.
- Hiders: press Space (or the Become button on a phone) to turn into the nearest object. Walk somewhere it fits in, then stand still. You have 30 seconds before the seekers open their eyes.
- Seekers: walk with WASD or the stick, aim with the mouse, and click or press Space to tag the object in front of you. On a phone, you tag whatever is in front of you with the TAG button.
- Tagging a hider finds them. Tagging a real object costs energy; run out and you are dizzy for a few seconds.
- Found hiders join the seekers (or watch, if the room is set that way). The hiders win the round if anyone is still hidden when time runs out.
- In the last minute every hider whistles now and then, so keep an ear out. Hiders can also whistle on purpose with Q for bonus points.
Tips
- Pick an object that belongs in the room. A tyre in the kitchen gets noticed; a pot beside the stove does not.
- Stand next to an object of the same kind. Two lamps side by side look normal.
- Seekers: remember how a room looked when you first walked in. Something new in the same spot later is a giveaway.
- Moving is the quickest way to get found. If a seeker is right next to you, staying still is usually the better bet.
Questions
Is the house the same every time?
No. Every round builds a new house with rooms in a different order, new furniture and new objects to hide among.
Can seekers see which objects are players?
No. Online, the game never tells a seeker's screen which objects are players. Every object, real or not, is sent the same way.
Can I play alone?
Yes. Play with 2 to 9 computer players at easy, medium or hard. You hide in one round and seek in the next.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Move with the stick and use the on-screen buttons to disguise, whistle or tag.
