Word Guess is a five-letter word puzzle. You have six tries to find the hidden word, and after each guess the letters change colour to show how close you are.

Play today's daily word (the same for everyone), unlimited random words, or race up to five other players online on the same words. Hard mode makes you use every hint you have found.

How to play Word Guess

Type any valid five-letter word and press Enter.
Green means the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different spot.
Grey means the letter is not in the word.
Use the clues to find the word in six guesses or fewer.

Tips

Start with a word full of common letters, such as CRANE, SLATE or TRACE.
Do not reuse grey letters: every guess should test something new.
Remember that letters can appear twice.

Questions

Is there a new word every day?

Yes. The daily word changes at midnight (your local time) and is the same for every player on the same date.

Which words are allowed?

About 6,500 common English five-letter words are accepted as guesses. Answers are everyday words, never plurals or rare words.

How does the online race work?

Everyone gets the same words. Solving faster and in fewer guesses scores more, and you can see rivals' colours but not their letters.
